Electrician in Greystone
Electrical help for Greystone homes and businesses.
Greystone is a large planned golf community on Double Oak Mountain in Hoover, Alabama, in Shelby County, with two golf courses, 24 miles of private roads and two fire stations of its own. Handy Dudes Electrical is licensed, insured and based in Pelham, and we serve Greystone homeowners with lighting, EV charging, generators, panels and everyday repairs.
Greystone has a wide range of custom homes, which means different panels, more lighting and more loads to plan for from one house to the next. Request service with the form on this page or call (205) 341-9500 Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and tell us what you are planning.

Custom homes on a mountainside: what Greystone’s scale means for electrical work
Greystone grew from an idea Daniel Corporation’s Charlie Tickle developed in the late 1980s, with construction starting in 1997. It is a planned unit development with two main segments, Greystone Founders and Greystone Legacy, set against Double Oak Mountain, and the Hoover Sun reports every home lot sold within 17 years of construction starting. It began as unincorporated Shelby County land and was annexed into Hoover, partly so residents could attend Hoover schools. Parks, walking trails and an elementary school are part of the community.
Because the homes are custom, no two electrical systems are quite alike. Larger floor plans, multi-car garages and outdoor living areas mean more circuits and more lighting, and the earliest homes are now around three decades old, which is when fixtures and finishes start getting updated. It is a natural point to talk about new fixtures, ceiling fans, a Level 2 charger in the garage or a generator consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Have another question? How is a whole-house generator planned for a large Greystone home?
We start with a consultation about which loads you want covered, such as HVAC, kitchen and refrigeration, then look at the panel, the placement of the unit and the connections it needs. Generac whole-house generators are what we install and service. Request service and we will set up the conversation.
I am updating the fixtures in my Greystone house. Is that something you do?
Yes. Light fixture replacement is one of our core services, from a single entry light to a full set of dated fixtures. Tell us what you are replacing and, if you can, send photos with your request so we know what the work involves.
Can you add a Level 2 charger in a multi-car garage?
Yes, we install Level 2 EV chargers at homes. The garage layout decides where the charger and the circuit run, and the panel decides whether the circuit fits. We look at both before recommending a plan, and we tell you up front if the panel needs work first.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Handy Dudes Electrical holds Alabama Electrical Contractor License #04824 and is insured, and our electrical work is done to code for your safety.
